Many people feel like rock stars after they’ve had their portraits painted, but my friend Dakota was already a rock star. A shredding guitarist and founding member of so many important bands that it’s hard to list. Hopscotch, Electric Blue Martini, Snowball, and Lloyd’s Bruise, to name a few of my favorites. Dakota has now joined the Fifty Project.
I laid out the portrait with him to the far right of the 72” wide canvas thinking I would paint in a second portrait in the background, but as it developed, I decided just to give him exaggerated David Byrne shoulders.
