It was a great honor to be part of the Kids Tag Art Awards Ceremony at the Polk Museum of Art as the recognized these talented young artists Saturday morning. I was asked to say a few words of encouragement and to share a story with the students and their families. They made a big deal out of these kids and I was impressed with their artwork which was projected on the massive screen in the auditorium. It’s a really great program with really wonderful people making it happen year after year.
Kids Tag Art is a school fundraising project originating in Polk County that inspires fifth grade art students to design their own specialty plate art, learning the practical application of license plate art to support worthy causes, fashioned after Florida’s 100+ specialty license plates. Kids Tag Art is included in most elementary school curriculums across Polk County, creating thousands of unique designs, and as a result, instrumental in raising needed funds for classroom art supplies. It provides additional funding for elementary classroom art programs.
