On October 29, 2022 Belen witnessed it’s first HeadFest. Inspired by the uncanny musical performance at the 2021 Music Fest on Becker Avenue, where Head Crushing Machine performed their first time at Silver Bar Studios, wearing gigantic papier mache heads. Several local artists wanted to create their own papier mache heads and agreed that we should have a parade up and down Becker Avenue.

For 7 weekends the heads were created in the alleyway at Silver Bar. Newspaper, flour and water were donated and many of the heads were created by passersby. In total 12 heads were made and the masked performers made their way to Belen’s Scarecrow Festival at the West end of Becker ave, joining hundreds of visitors and dozens of vendors at this exciting annual event.

After the paint was dry, the HeadFest marched its way down Becker Avenue, stopping at every business and dragging more people to join the Scarecrow Festival 5 blocks away.
