The red self portrait continues…
I’ve started dirtying up the dark side of the face with my aquarella pencil and a squirt bottle. It leaves a nice texture when I spray a fine mist on the graphite and let it sit for a minute before I lightly brush it with a 4″ brush.
I’ve had an hour here and an hour there to work on this painting. It’s hard for me to work like this, but somehow, it’s managing to come along. Today I worked on the transition into the shaded part of the face around the eyes and nose.
It’s the perfect weather to be painting in the studio. I wish I could spend the rest of the year here.
